Charity work of the RAFSTA

Taking it's lead from the various Sci-Fi and Star Trek Conventions held in the UK and worldwide, RAFSTA always includes Charity Fund Raising as part of it's social gatherings. The AGM weekends feature a Charity auction, where items donated by members and supportive companies are sold.

The Charity to be supported is chosen by the membership at the AGM and support usually runs for one year, although this period can be extended. The club tries to make a point of staying away from big high profile charities, to concentrate on smaller ones that may get less support, or charities that are linked to members.

To date RAFSTA has raised in excess of £6000 and supported the following Charities:

Guide Dogs For The Blind

Hope & Homes For Children

The Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Society [SANDS]

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust

The Fibromyalgia Association UK

The National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease (NACC)
